PROBLEM: 

The client wanted to utilize her backyard after recently purchasing the home. Her previous lifestyle included an intense amount of gardening, overwhelming maintenance, and a ton of stress. She definitely wanted to retain her gardening hobby at her new home, but she wanted it to be a simple and elegant addition to her new relaxed lifestyle. In the backyard consisted of a poorly constructed deck off the back door. The client wished to extend the patio and have it transition into her landscape.  

SOLUTION: 

PCL created a custom design specified off of the client’s general ideas of how they would wish to spend their outdoor life at their new home. The back deck was the centerpiece of the transition from an interior life, to an outdoor backyard life. The deck initially entailed a deck that was built around a hot tub (Which the client loved). As we proceeded with the build, we changed the hot tub go right at the bottom of the stairs to the left sitting right in the landscape (minimizing maintenance). We tied the landscape into two tiers. One for grass, one for planting, and a concrete sidewalk between the deck and the bottom tier to create easy access.  

RESULTS: 

All of the functions to this landscape complement one another, every angle of the landscape is just as beautiful in real life as the proposed design. The client said, “I was scared when you started excavating, it was a lot of dirt and the yard looked destroyed to no return. I just look out at what was created, and I couldn’t imagine anything different, it is simply perfect. You guys did a great job, your design was perfect, the changes we made along the way came out beyond better than I expected. I couldn’t be happier.”
